Detached ADU Size Limits
- –Maximum detached ADU size: single-family — the greatest of 800 sq ft, 850 sq ft (or 1,000 sq ft with 2+ bedrooms), and 50% of the primary dwelling’s floor area up to 1,200 sq ft; two-family or multifamily — the greater of 800 sq ft and 850 sq ft (or 1,000 sq ft with 2+ bedrooms).

What can you build in California?
- –Cannot bar a 150 sq ft Efficiency Unit.
- –Local caps may not be lower than 850 sf (1 BR) or 1 000 sf (2+ BR).
